Officials at the Red Cross say a financial contribution is a great way to help the cause. You can send a text to 90999 to make a $10 contribution. If you have material things, such as clothing to donate, they say it's easier to do that through local shelters. If you are able to help out in any way, I strongly encourage you to do so.
Saturday evening my boys SS teacher went home to be with the Lord. She was 78. What a legacy she has left behind not only for my children, but so many others to numerous to mention. Every word she spoke, she praised the Lord....even until she took her last breath. Stage 4 cancer invaded her body just a few short months ago....and even then she said, "God is in control...there are blessings in everything." What a blessing to know Mrs. Wanda, that you are finally home with our heavenly father. You will be greatly missed, but forever fondly remembered. Tonight is Mrs. Wanda's viewing and my 6 year old son asked me to take him so that he can say good bye. He told me that "his heart is happy to know she is not sick anymore and that she lives with Jesus now." He even told me, "Mom, her spirit will live forever." You want to talk about making a Mama cry! And, this afternoon I was sitting at the kitchen table thinking about her, and my 4 year old (he was in her class this year at church) comes up to me and in the sweetest voice said, "Mommy, let's sing Jesus Loves Me." That was one of Mrs. Wanda's favorite songs and she taught that song to so many kids! So many kids have found their way to Christ b/c of the groundwork that Mrs. Wanda had started in their hearts at such a tender, young age. That just goes to show that we are never too young to praise the Lord.
I will end with this...I encourage all of you Mommy's to sing it with your children tonight:
Jesus loves me this I know
For the Bible tells me so
Little ones to him belong
They are weak but He is strong.
Yes, Jesus loves me
Yes, Jesus loves me
Yes, Jesus loves me
The Bible tells me so.
Rest in peace Mrs. Wanda.
Rebekah
